Description

The Japanese folklore yokai spirit, “Enenra”, is a figure that emerges from the sleeping mind in the form of a smoke-like entity, escaping from the conscious human form in order to seek out its own agenda and force of will during the midnight hours.  This study represents a series of small works I began in Japan in 2013, which will lead to a final body of work incorporating the mythic transformation of the mundane aspects of human nature.

This is a small study for a much larger figure, approximately 48-60 inches in length.  Like this study, the final figure will have numerous subtle holes covering the body, through which distinctive wisps of vapor/smoke will emerge in sinuous patterns.
